Terms & Conditions

Last updated 5 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Gurukool mobile application and this website. By downloading the app, creating an account, or using any part of the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Draft for legal review. This document is a working draft prepared to get the page built. Entity details, jurisdiction and the liability and refund clauses still need to be completed and reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch.

1. Who we are

Gurukool is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a company registered in India with registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS] and corporate identity number [CIN].

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to that company. "You" refers to the person using the service. You can reach us at hello@gurukool.com.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use Gurukool. If you are under 18, you may only use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it.

You agree to give accurate information when you register and to keep it up to date.

3. What we provide

Gurukool provides short educational video lessons and related written material across a range of subjects. We may add, change, or remove lessons and features at any time.

We aim to keep the service available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, technical problems, or circumstances outside our control may interrupt it.

4. Educational content is not professional advice

This is the most important clause in this document, so it is stated plainly.

Lessons on Gurukool are general educational content. They are not personalised professional advice, and no lesson creates a professional relationship between you and us or between you and a teacher.

This applies with particular force to lessons touching on:

  • Money, saving, credit, insurance and investment — these are not financial or investment advice, and we are not a registered investment adviser.
  • Government schemes, entitlements and paperwork — always confirm eligibility and process against the relevant official government source, which is authoritative where we are not.
  • Business, tax and compliance — these are not legal, accounting or tax advice.
  • Health, wellbeing and personal circumstances — these are not medical or psychological advice.

5. Your licence to use the service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view Gurukool content for your own learning.

You may not download, copy, record, redistribute, publicly perform, resell, or create derivative works from our lessons, except where the app expressly offers a download-for-offline feature, which is for your personal use only.

6. Acceptable use

When using Gurukool, you agree not to:

  • Break any applicable law, or use the service to harm, harass or impersonate anyone.
  • Share your account, or attempt to access another user’s account.
  • Scrape, crawl, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract our content or source code.
  • Interfere with the service’s operation or security, or introduce malicious code.
  • Upload anything unlawful, misleading, infringing or abusive where the service allows submissions.

7. Intellectual property

The Gurukool name, logo, app, website, lesson videos, scripts, artwork and design are owned by us or licensed to us, and are protected by intellectual property law.

Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you. Third-party names or marks that appear in lessons belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.

8. Content you submit

If the service lets you post questions, comments or other material, you keep ownership of what you submit. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and use it for the purpose of operating and improving the service.

You confirm that you have the right to submit what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

9. Third-party links and services

Lessons and pages may link to third-party websites, government portals or app stores. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

10. Privacy

Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Please read it alongside this document.

11. Payments and refunds

[COMPLETE BEFORE LAUNCH — this clause depends on the final commercial model. If any part of the service becomes paid, set out clearly: what is charged, how billing and renewal work, how to cancel, and the refund window. Where purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms’ own refund processes will also apply and in some cases take precedence.]

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We make no promise that the content will be error-free or that it will produce any particular result for you. Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under applicable consumer protection law.

13. Limitation of liability

[REVIEW WITH COUNSEL — the cap and carve-outs below are indicative only.]

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, data, or opportunity, arising from your use of the service.

We are not liable for decisions you take based on educational content, including financial, legal, tax, medical or entitlement decisions. See the clause above on professional advice.

Nothing in this clause limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Gurukool and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, or if we reasonably need to in order to protect the service or other users. Where it is practical and lawful to do so, we will tell you why.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. If a change is material, we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that point means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at [CITY], India will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any right you have under consumer law to bring proceedings elsewhere.

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@gurukool.com — most issues are resolved quickly that way.

17. Grievance officer

In accordance with applicable Indian information technology rules, our grievance officer is [NAME], reachable at [EMAIL] and [ADDRESS]. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within the period required by law.

18. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@gurukool.com, or by post to [REGISTERED ADDRESS].
